A Month of Minding Your Money & Mental: Take a Break

I can admit to getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of the world — moving so fast and never slowing down to look at how far I’ve come.

This week, I want to highlight the benefits of taking a break; slowing down and smelling the roses. Let me clarify, a break doesn’t have to be a 7-day vacation in the Maldives. A break can be 30 minutes of silence sitting in your car in the driveway! A break can even be 30 seconds of breathing with your eyes closed (don’t underestimate what 30 seconds can do).

Below are some things I do when I take a break:

  • Meditate; I usually go no less than 5 minutes

  • Journal; because sometimes you need to get your thoughts on paper and out of your head

  • Sleep; I could rant about the benefits of sleep and resting the body and mind

  • Celebrate; stop and smell the roses, I deserve.

  • Vacation; it doesn’t have to be a vacation, but a weekend getaway is good for the soul!

Mental Health Awareness Month has really given me a moment to pay attention to myself. While, this is the “month” for it, focusing on our mental health should be a continuous process. Everyday we get the chance to wake up and show up for the day! Some days I’m just not in the mood and in those moments, I give myself some grace and take a break.

So take this break to regroup — even if you feel great — take a break!

Comment below to give us some ideals of how YOU take a break!

That’s all, that’s the email.
